Cloud preservation and upload states
Preservation is a foreground state machine. Local only, waiting, uploading, verification needed, preserved, generating and ready each describe a different fact.
Start only after reading the object/metadata, retention and deletion disclosure.
Retry failed or expired objects; the local original remains the source until remote digest verification.
Close safely only after upload finalisation; generation jobs may then continue server-side and notify you.
